Whole30 Days 19-20

Stop the presses. I ate asparagus today.

I know, no big deal, right? But for me, every new food encountered is newsworthy! Since my Whole30 journey began, I’ve branched out and have eaten tilapia, zucchini, kale (fail, but at least I tried), elk burgers, tuna steaks (tonight), and drank bone broth, and of course, indulged in Larabars (never had dates before!) and kombucha.  Alright, that doesn’t sound like a lot of really new things in three weeks, but for a girl who used to live on garlic chicken and pasta alone, these are big steps!

While I won’t deny that Jared and I both know exactly how many days until this is over (and that we are already conjuring up what our “first meal” will be) without batting an eyelash (10 days, 2 hours and change..), I promise you that the Whole30 is not so bad, despite anything negative I’ve said.. hehe. It’s a process and a learning experience, and honestly sometimes gets in the way of doing other things because of the necessary prep and always eating at home. For instance, Tuesday evening after work we went to look for a new stove (due to a couple recent black smoke incidents). After stopping at ABC Warehouse and Sears Outlet (both of which I expected I could walk out of with a stove for $200 and did not), and leaving empty-handed, it was one of those nights that we typically would decide that it is much easier to just stop at a sit-down restaurant for dinner rather than cook. Unfortunately, eating out is off-plan, so back home we went to slave in the kitchen to cook. Fortunately, it was our planned spaghetti-squash days, which was a weekly meal we made prior to the Whole30 so while it does take some prep time, it’s easy enough to not have to put a lot of thought into it.

Wednesday, was another day that after working out, it’s just hard to get motivated to cook. But we did, and the steaks were pretty tasty. And I was surprised with a Kombucha and Coconut Creme Larabar so felt pretty good anyway!

I plan on writing up a pros and cons post at the end of this journey to summarize everything that we have gone through, and a full of “food-porn” post of things we’ve eaten along the way. There are a couple of ladies I know, Megan and Martha, that are embarking on the Whole30 journey very soon, so do want to show the positive light, too!

Oh the blogfront.. I promised a vlog this week and have not yet gotten to it due to my poor prioritizing, so will attempt it tomorrow. I will have it by the end of the week! I also want to thank all of you for the comments on Jill’s awesome interview I posted earlier this morning. She was a brave guinea pig for my new weekly segment on lady lifters (and she graciously agreed to do a guest post on here next week)! Also, want to give a super huge shoutout to my girl, Stephanie, of idrankthecfkoolaid for coming up with the super cute icon below. She used a real pic of me to create this fun icon (logo? I don’t know what it’s called?) that I will be using going forward on all of my spotlights!

I have a couple more great interviews lined up for the next couple weeks, but if you would like to answer the same questions or write a guest post on my blog, please Contact Me and we’ll get in touch! Also, if there is anything that you want to know about me, I’d love to answer any reader questions!

Oh! And I have to share the excitement that my iPhone5 is scheduled to be here sometime tomorrow.. Whoo!!! AND i bought a new toy today for the home gym (it’s in the car, so I’ll take pics tomorrow!) And some excitement for you guys – in the next few weeks, I’m going to have two awesome giveaways!! I know, the suspense is killing you!

Do you always eat all your veggies? What is your favorite veggie and how do you prep it? We have one more full week of meal planning and I’d love to add in something new!
